CANZONA is one of England’s leading ensembles specialising in the performance of baroque music on period instruments. Between them, the players of Canzona have a large collection of original instruments and modern copies, which they use in their quest to recreate sounds appropriate for repertoire from Monteverdi to Mozart.
CANZONA’S exciting programmes of chamber music have been enthusiastically received
by audiences and critics alike. The unusual versatility of the director Theresa Caudle,
who plays both the violin and cornett, creates the stimulus for a flexible line-
CANZONA regularly provides orchestras or smaller ensembles for choirs, for works such as Monteverdi’s Vespers, Purcell’s Odes, and the great choral works of Bach and Handel.
